Gift will also reunite Kim Woo-bin with director Kim Kyu-tae, who previously directed him in tvN’s ensemble drama Our Blues.

In that 2022 series, Kim Woo-bin played ship captain Park Jeong-jun, whose quiet relationship with Lee Young-ok, played by Han Ji-min, became one of the drama’s central emotional stories.

Their collaboration in Gift could produce a similarly character-focused performance. Kim Kyu-tae’s previous work includes emotionally driven series such as Our Blues, It’s Okay, That’s Love, That Winter, the Wind Blows and Moon Lovers: Scarlet Heart Ryeo. He will direct the new drama alongside Ham Seung-hoon. The screenplay is being written by Min Jung, Haeju and Seong-eun.

For Kim Woo-bin, the role offers a chance to combine the restrained emotional style seen in Our Blues with the physical authority needed to play a former professional athlete.
